Caryn's first short film BEAT (2001), shot guerrilla-style on super 8mm in real underground parties, marked her as a visual director "communicating technically brilliant and emotionally nuanced stories at a visceral level." The film premiered at International Short Film Festival in Clermont-Ferrand, France.
